Our animals: our family

Some stories don't write themselves.
This is one such story.

A story that hurts, but that needs to be told. Because it is inextricably linked to who we are and to this place.

Campos – the beginning of everything

Our first pet here was Campos.

He had 17 happy years with us. An exceptionally good dog: loyal, gentle, and always there. Campos was part of the early years of our dream. He saw us build, persevere, and grow.

He was the mascot of Domaine des Campeaux for many years.

Today he rests under the big oak tree.

Pucky – the free spirit

Next to him lies Pucky, his little brother, our hunting dog.

He arrived here completely exhausted, without a collar or microchip. We did everything we could to find his owner, but no one came to claim him. Later, we discovered that he was prone to motion sickness, which is obviously not ideal for a hunting dog. We suspect that this is why he was abandoned somewhere in our forest.

For us, it mainly meant that we got a new four-legged friend.

Pucky was a real adventurer. Every night he would run away and every morning he would return, often with minor injuries from his nocturnal escapades. That's why we finally decided to build a doghouse, so that he could sleep safely with Campos at night.

He had a strong character. Visiting dogs were not a good idea for him—and so the rule was established that no other dogs were allowed on the property.

Pucky lived with us for 16 years. Alert, full of character, and loyal.

Clochard – found by Silke

Clochard is also lying under the oak tree.

His story began in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. Little Silke saw a cardboard box there with five small puppies, covered in fleas and without a home. We couldn't just let that happen.

A man said we could take them all, but one puppy was enough for us. A small black stray dog with severe ADHD.

After his neutering, he became calmer and grew to be Silke's best friend.

Unfortunately, his time with us was far too short. He was only able to live here for four years. His loss came too soon and unexpectedly.

But however short his life was, his place in our hearts was great.

Witje – gentle and faithful

Witje also rests under the large oak tree.

She was with us for 12 years. An incredibly sweet and calm dog, gentle in character and always nearby.

Her death two years ago in November left a huge void. Saying goodbye was difficult, and we still miss her every day.

Paco, today's heartthrob

And today there is still Paco.

Our Labradoodle, 8 years old, and undoubtedly the darling of everyone who comes here. Paco brings life, lightness, and comfort.

He absorbs sadness without words and gives love without conditions.

He carries the story forward.

More than dogs

Our animals were never "just dogs." They were family.

They accompanied us through renovations, difficult choices, joy, and sorrow. They were always there, quiet and loyal.

Under the big oak tree lies not just a farewell.

There lies love.
Remembrance.
Connection.

And as long as Paco is around, all of that will continue to live on. 🌳🐾
